IRE VS IND: Sanju Samson Not Sad About Not Scoring A Ton In The 2nd T20I

Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson, an Indian batsman, stated he wasn’t sad that he didn’t reach his first T20I century but said that he would like to reach a three-figure score as soon as possible in the game’s shortest format. On his return to the T20I team, Samson smashed a 42-ball 77 against Ireland in the second T20I at the Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin on Tuesday, June 28. He hammered nine boundaries and four sixes.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was unable to play in the second T20I owing to an injury, was replaced by Sanju Samson, who was asked to start the batting alongside Ishan Kishan. Samson persevered despite losing his partner early on and attacked the Ireland bowlers.

Samson and Deepak Hooda put up the biggest T20I run partnership for India, totalling 176 runs. Hooda became just the fourth Indian to score 100 runs in the game’s shortest format. After being dropped for the 5-match T20I series against South Africa at home in June, the Rajasthan Royals captain made the most of his opportunity.

I Am Happy To Bat At Any Position: Sanju Samson

As Hooda was sending them soaring into the stands for his 57-ball 104, Samson was content to take second place in their magnificent partnership. When Samson picked up speed, Hooda was forced to take a backseat as the two youthful hitters seized the centre stage and led India to a winning total of 205.

I think Hooda made it very easy for me. He came in with an intent to go after the bowling very hard from the word go, which made it easy for me. We communicated really well. When Hooda was going on, I was happy to give the strike to him. When I was hitting it, he also did the same,” Sanju Samson told Sony Sports after India won the T20I by 4 runs.

I would also like to get to that kind of a score but am very happy with the way I batted as well, It’s just about getting back to understanding the role and which kind of intensity I should do. As an opener, I can take some time and play the touch game but when coming in at No. 4 or No. 5, it’s all about power. It’s about understanding the role for my team and just sticking to it,” Samson added.

It remains to be seen if Samson gets to play in the next T20 International for India or not.

Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, can claim to have held the top spot among T20I batters for the longest period of time after maintaining it on the most recent MRF Tyres ICC T20 batting rankings.

The No. 1 T20I batter ranking belonged to India’s star Virat Kohli for a total of 1,013 days during his ten-year rule, in the last decade but Babar has now exceeded this total after a protracted reign.

The Pakistani captain recently expressed a desire to compete for the top spot in all three formats. He is currently the No. 1 batter in T20Is and ODIs.

IND vs ENG: India ODI Squad vs England (Predicted)

India National Cricket Team, ICC T20 World Cup 2021

Team India is set to kick off the England tour at the end of this week when they play the rearranged fifth Test from last year’s tour, which will not only determine the results of the five-match series but will also show them a mirror for the roadmap ahead in the WTC 2021-23 cycle.

Just after the conclusion of the one-off Test, India will turn into the blue colours to play the white-ball leg comprising three T20 Internationals followed by as many ODI matches.

All six white-ball fixtures between England and India will be held at different venues in the United Kingdom. Both the teams have already announced their squads for the rescheduled fifth and final Test in Birmingham but they are yet to reveal their white-ball squads.

England will obviously see a change in the white-ball leadership after veteran skipper Eoin Morgan announced his retirement from international cricket on Tuesday (June 28).

India will also play under the leadership of Rohit Sharma for the first time in England. However, the Indian skipper isn’t certain to play the one-off Test after contracting the virus last week and is going under an isolation period. India will miss the services of injured players KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav with Ruturaj Gaikwad being the latest to add to the list.

India last played the ODI series against West Indies at home, where they clean swept the Kieron Pollard & co 3-0 after suffering a whitewash at the hands of South Africa in their last overseas ODI series earlier in January.

Let us look at India’s predicted 15-member ODI squad.

Rohit Sharma is likely to be fit by the time India starts the three-match ODI series on July 12. This would be the first overseas assignment for the 35-year-old in the 50-over format as India captain after he missed the ODI series against South Africa at the start of the year due to a hamstring injury.

Rohit has amassed 9238 runs in 230 ODI matches and 544 of those runs have been scored against England. Rohit will take a leaf from his magnificent 2019 World Cup experience, where he scored five centuries in the showpiece event in England and finished as the leading run-scorer with 648 runs at an average of 81.
