The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will commence the process to find Team India’s new head coach before the T20 World Cup begins. The ICC tournament will be Ravi Shastri’s last as the coach and he has already announced that there won’t be a contract extension.

According to a report in TOI, the BCCI will release the advertisement after deciding the criteria for the support staff along with document finalization. India’s support staff will also be undergoing a major change with Bharat Arun (bowling coach) and R Sridhar’s (fielding coach) contracts expiring along with Shastri’s.

The process of hiring the next support staff will start this week. The board is looking at October 14 to come out with the advertisement. The board is keen to bring in the new coach during the New Zealand series so that he gets used to the dressing room before the team leaves for South Africa in the second week of December,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying to TOI.

The BCCI will wait till the deadline to see all the applicants before taking the final call

The official further revealed that the process is just about to begin and there will be plenty of time to apply for the prestigious role. He also mentioned that Paras Mhambrey would be a good choice for the board considering how familiar he is with the system.

These are very early stages. There could be more big names applying for the job. The board will wait for [a while] to see who all apply and then decide on pursuing individuals.

“It will be great if Mhambrey applies for the job. He knows the system well. But the board will have to figure out who will take care of the U-19 team because there is not much time to prepare for the U-19 World Cup,” the official added.
