Boards Should Organise Triangular And Quadrangular Series Instead Of Bilateral Series – Brad Hogg

Brad Hogg

Former Australia spinner Brad Hogg bats for the return of tri-nation and four-nation limited-overs series in international cricket. He feels that during pandemic times, it would beneficial for cricket boards to host a multi-team tournament than staging bi-lateral series one after another. This would reduce the time — and resources used in conducting multiple bi-lateral series.

In the past decade, the number of triangular and quadrangular series have reduced significantly as compared to the previous decades. Teams have focussed more on hosting just a solitary team at a given time for either an all-format tour, or ODI and T20I series. Even Australia, who regularly used to host ODI tri-series, often involving India, have refrained from doing so for a few years now.

“With quarantine dilemmas of today and extra time added to tours, the ICC and boards could get together and organise tri and quad series instead of bi series to get more games in a tighter confined period, creating less travel and stress for stakeholders,” Brad Hogg wrote on Twitter.

India have a point to prove. England batting still not stable: Brad Hogg

Brad Hogg feels that Virat Kohli’s team has a “big opportunity” to register a series win in England, for the first time since 2007, in their upcoming 5-Test series, starting August 4 at Trent Bridge.

He brought a couple of talking points regarding the upcoming series: India have a point to prove after losing the WTC final to New Zealand last month; England are currently having a fallible batting top order against which the Indian bowlers can make hay.

Joe Root’s side lost to New Zealand last month – their first home series loss since 2014 as the Kiwis bowlers dominated the home batters for the majority of the time.

“India have a point to prove. England batting still not stable also gives them a big opportunity to upset the home team. #INDvENG,” the former chinaman spinner gave his prediction for the series.
