Last Year Before IPL 2021 I Didn’t Have Any Way To Practice In Assam – Riyan Parag

Riyan Parag

Rajasthan Royals batter Riyan Parag revealed how he managed to practice back at his home ahead of IPL 2021. During the last two years, there were a lot of restrictions imposed on sporting avenues amid the COVID-19 pandemic. It took a toll on many athletes across India as their training and physical activities were hindered.

Cricket facilities in Assam are not that great: Riyan Parag

Parag mentioned his fair share of challenges in training in Assam. The 20-year-old Assam player said two locals came to his rescue with a training facility.

So, cricket facilities in Assam, where I live, are not that great. We don’t have that many fields or infrastructure or anything like that. So, last year before the IPL I didn’t really have any way to practice.

“But two of the guys, Sauvik Das and Mukund Kalita, they founded ‘We Are Northeast’ and built like a 100m, 4×4 side-to-side, just the net, some astroturf and a ground for the bowlers to bowl,” Parag said in a video posted on RR’s YouTube channel.

“That’s how I practiced. So, even now, now that we have built infrastructure in Assam and we’ve got different places to practice, better than that, I still like to go back there and practice there because they helped me when I needed it the most,” he added.

Riyan Parag’s journey in IPL so far

Parag was part of the India U19 squad led by Prithvi Shaw in the 2018 U19 World Cup in New Zealand. The Assam player was bought by Rajasthan Royals in the 2019 IPL auction for his base price of INR 20 lakhs.

In IPL 2019, Parag became the youngest player to score fifty against Delhi Capitals at the age of 17 and 175 days, he broke Rajasthan Royals teammate Sanju Samson’s record.

The inaugural IPL champions were impressed with his finishing skills, so they once again bought him for INR 3.80 crore in the IPL 2022 auction.

Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings Head To Head Records, IPL 2022, Match 33, MI vs CSK

Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings Head To Head Records, IPL 2022, Match 33, MI vs CSK

Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings Head To Head Records, IPL 2022, Match 33, MI vs CSK- In the 33rd match of Indian Premier League 2022, Mumbai Indians (MI) will play against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday (21st April, 7:30 pm). Rohit Sharma will lead the MI side while Ravindra Jadeja will be leading CSK in the exciting fixture of IPL 2022.

DC vs PBKS Dream11 Prediction

Mumbai Indians are the only team this season who are eluded of a win. The 5-time IPL champions have played 6 matches and lost all of them. One more loss will result in early elimination from the playoffs race. Skipper Rohit Sharma is completely out of touch and his bowlers including pacer Jasprit Bumrah have been under the pump in almost every game.

Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are two of the most successful teams in IPL history, however, this season has been nothing but a nightmare for the two teams. MI is yet to get going on the points table, while on the other hand, CSK has managed only a solitary win from 6 games so far. Both teams are in desperate need of a win.

For Mumbai Indians, big names like Kieron Pollard, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ishan Kishan have failed miserably. Dewald Brevis from the last two games, and the evergreen Suryakumar Yadav have been the only positives for a struggling Mumbai Indians outfit so far.

Record IPL champions Mumbai Indians occupy the last- 10th place in the points table as they are the only team who hasn’t registered a single point. Their net run-rate reads –1.048, and only a miracle can take them through to the playoffs now, with eight out of eight wins needed.

Mumbai Indians have established themselves to be the most successful team in IPL history. They have completely dominated the opposition in the last few seasons winning the trophy in consecutive years in 2019 and 2020. They also won the title earlier in 2013, 2015, and 2017. The story is completely different this season as the two teams find themselves at the bottom of the points table.

The game between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings has often been termed the clash of the titans due to their previous rivalry in the league. It is also the most anticipated clash of the league every year attracting large numbers of fans. The two powerhouses will face each other on April 21, 2022, at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Both teams have played a total of 32 games in IPL so far. In these games, MI has been successful in winning 19 matches while CSK has won 13 games. In the UAE leg of IPL 2021, CSK and MI locked horns at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai and the MS Dhoni-led side emerged victorious by 20 runs. Mumbai Indians had defeated CSK by four wickets in the first half of IPL 2021 in India.

In the T20 games held between these two sides, Suresh Raina scored the most runs (736) followed by Rohit Sharma (693) and MS Dhoni (646). Among the current bowlers playing in these teams, Dwayne Bravo has picked up the most wickets (35) followed by Ravindra Jadeja (18).

CSK and MI last met at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai in the second phase of IPL 2021 held in UAE. It was a thrilling contest as several momentum shifts were witnessed in the game.

Then CSK skipper MS Dhoni elected to bat after winning the toss but the decision seemed terrible at first. MI pacers ran through CSK’s top order as the likes of Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali bagged ducks. Nevertheless, young opener Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a 58-ball 88 as CSK posted 156/6.

Chasing the tricky total, MI lost wickets at regular intervals and never looked in the hunt. Saurabh Tiwary did score a valiant half-century to keep his side alive in the game. However, his efforts could only narrow down the margin of defeat. As a result, the four-time champions CSK walked away with a 20-run triumph.

Ravichandran Ashwin Felt He Was “Too Busy In Shoots” And Didn’t Spare Time For His Bowling – Mohammad Kaif Recalls His Time At Delhi Capitals

Ravichandran Ashwin

Former Indian player Mohammad Kaif hailed offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin for his serious commitment to the game of cricket despite being engaged in a busy schedule. Ashwin was in Delhi Capitals for two years (2020-21) before moving to Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022.

Ashwin picked 20 wickets in 28 games at an economy rate of 7.55 during his stint with the Delhi Capitals. The Tamil Nadu player is known for blocking runs in the middle overs and getting breakthroughs if needed. He can also play the anchor’s role with the bat.

Ravichandran Ashwin bowled for almost three hours in the nets: Mohammad Kaif

Kaif, who was assistant coach of Delhi Capitals last year, talked about Ashwin’s management with his bowling along with commercial commitments. The former Indian player appreciated the spin-bowling all-rounder for his determination.

“Ashwin was with me at Delhi Capitals before moving to Rajasthan Royals. I remember the previous IPL’s first half being hosted in the country. The first game (vs CSK) was at the Wankhede and leaked many runs (47 in four overs).

“It was an optional practice the next day. Players who had played the previous game had an option to rest. But Ashwin was with me on the bus. I asked him, ‘What happened? Today is just an optional session’. But he said, ‘I want to get my length right’,” Kaif told Sportskeeda.

“He also spoke about doing too many shoots. You have many commitments in the IPL due to sponsors, and Ashwin maybe wasn’t ready for the first game. He felt he was too busy in shoots and didn’t spare time for his bowling.

“He was on the bus… and Ashwin bowled for almost three hours in the nets. He kept bowling and made the corrections. Right in the next game, he performed to his very best,” he added.
