I Find Hardik Pandya As A Very Strong Personality – Sai Kishore

Gujarat Titans spinner Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore acclaimed skipper Hardik Pandya and called him a strong personality.

In his first experience of captaincy in competitive cricket, Hardik has earned plaudits for his leadership skills as Gujarat Titans topped the IPL 2022 league stage with 20 points (10 wins in 14 games).

Sai Kishore made his IPL debut for Gujarat Titans

Kishore was with Chennai Super Kings for two seasons but the left-arm spin bowler made his IPL debut under Hardik’s captaincy.

Kishore made his first appearance for the Titans in their 12th game against Lucknow Super Giants and impressed with figures 2/7, his dismissal included the dangerous Ayush Badoni and Mohsin Khan.

I’ve always loved the kinds of captains who give the responsibility to the player: Sai Kishore on Hardik Pandya

Kishore said Hardik never imposes himself on any player and allows them to play with complete freedom.

Hardik to me has been pretty simple. In the last game, he came to me and said, ‘Left-hander is batting, do you want me to tell you anything, or you know?’ I said, ‘I know, I’ll take care,” Kishore told Gujarat Titans’ official website.

“I find Hardik as a very strong personality. He carries himself with a lot of confidence, and has confidence in his players as well. Not trying to impose himself on all the players. Give them their space, their freedom, and ‘you express yourselves. If something goes wrong, I’ll be there’. That’s how I’ve seen Hardik.

I’ve always loved the kinds of captains who give the responsibility to the player, rather than just imposing always. Then your instincts just get cut off. Credit to captains like that, always fun to play like that,” he added.

Gujarat Titans will play against Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier 1 fixture of the IPL 2022 playoffs on May 24 (Tuesday) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The winner between Gujarat and Rajasthan will secure a berth in the IPL 2022 final while the loser gets another chance to qualify through Qualifier 2 on May 27.

The Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) completed 44 league matches in 36 days. With the addition of two new teams – Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants – the 10-team tournament looks riveting to watch.

Many encounters went down the wire, culminating in a thrilling finish like Titans all-rounder Rahul Tewatia smashed two sixes off Odeon Smith’s bowling when the equation was 12 needed off two balls.

Gujarat Titans are leading the points table with 16 points from nine games.

In fact, the Hardik Pandya-led side is the first IPL team to start the tournament with eight wins in nine matches, the best performance by a debut team in the IPL.

However, there are also some deplorable performances from international stars that can’t go unnoticed.

So we have prepared our Flop XI based on the performances of players until the Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians fixture on April 30.

IPL 2022 Flop XI Of The Season So Far

1. Rohit Sharma

The Mumbai Indians skipper is having a torrid season both as a player and a leader. For the first time, his team lost their first eight matches in a row.

Rohit has scored just 155 runs in nine innings at an all-time low average of 17.22. The Hitman is yet to score a fifty-plus score this season.

IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals Got It Wrong With Their Auction Strategy – Wasim Jaffer

Wasim Jaffer on Rishabh Pant

Former Indian player Wasim Jaffer said IPL franchise Delhi Capitals made errors during the IPL 2022 auction.

Ahead of the IPL 2022 auction, Delhi Capitals retained skipper Rishabh Pant, opener Prithvi Shaw, all-rounder Axar Patel and South Africa pacer Anrich Nortje.

Delhi Capitals purchased the likes of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh in the IPL 2022 auction

The Capitals had to let go of their key players like Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, Marcus Stoinis, Kagiso Rabada and Ravichandran Ashwin.

The Delhi outfit spent a total sum of INR 47.40 crores to purchase 20 players in the auction. They roped in the likes of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Rovman Powell, Lungi Ngidi, Yash Dhull, Srikar Bharat, Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav in the two-day event held in February in Bengaluru.

Jaffer, who played eight IPL matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore, was stunned with Delhi Capitals auction strategy. The former Punjab Kings batting coach pointed out that the Capitals just signed seven overseas players.

Delhi Capitals got it wrong with their strategy at the auction: Wasim Jaffer

Jaffer said the Rishabh Pant-led side will have to make a lot of adjustments in order to find a suitable playing XI.

“Delhi Capitals got it wrong with their strategy at the auction. They should have kept the international series’ in mind while picking players. They chose only seven overseas cricketers when the maximum limit is 8,” Jaffer told ESPNCricinfo.

“This is not the same DC side as the last two years. Probably Mandeep Singh or Yash Dhull could open. Sarfaraz Khan could bat at 3. They will have to make a lot of adjustments to find the best combination,” he added.

Delhi Capitals ended last season as the table toppers of the league stage but lost both the qualifying rounds against Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. They are yet to win the elusive IPL title..

Delhi Capitals will play their first IPL match against five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians on March 27 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
