Ravindra Jadeja Has Got Good Brain, He Potentially Could Be Good Leader – Moeen Ali Backs All-rounder After Awful IPL 2022 Campaign

Senior England National Cricket Team all-rounder Moeen Ali has said that the India National Cricket Team star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has got a good brain and he could become a successful skipper in future.

On March 24, just a few days before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 commenced, legendary captain MS Dhoni decided to hand over the CSK captaincy to Jadeja.

However, Chennai Super Kings struggled under Jadeja’s captaincy as they won only 2 games and faced 6 defeats and Jadeja’s form with bat and ball also took a massive hit. So Jadeja decided to hand back the captaincy to Dhoni, in the middle of the season, to focus more on his game.

Speaking to Sports Today, Moeen Ali said that Jadeja failed as a skipper in the IPL 2022 because CSK as a team were failing to perform. He added that there is not much difference between Dhoni and Jadeja in terms of characteristics.

“He’s (Jadeja) inexperienced in terms of captaincy and leading CSK was tough for him this year because we weren’t playing well as a team. But he has got a good brain and he potentially could be a good leader in the future,” he said.

“I have played under him. I have played under MS Dhoni as well. There is not much difference between both of them in terms of the characteristics – very calm, very loyal to their players. Brilliant captain, brilliant player,” he further added.

He changed the mindset of the players – Moeen Ali on Eoin Morgan

Moeen Ali was further asked about the impact of revolutionary England white-ball captain Eoin Morgan, who recently announced his retirement.

Ali said that the former England captain changed the mindset of the players and the reason behind England’s recent success in Test cricket under Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum is actually Eoin Morgan.

“We were horrendous in white-ball cricket before that (2015 World Cup). He changed the mindset of the players. Actually, the way England are playing now in Test cricket, I believe, is actually because of him. He showed that if you have the mindset, you can play fearless cricket, which we are playing now,” Ali said.

I Know Where I Need To Work On My Negatives – Anuj Rawat

Anuj Rawat

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicketkeeper-batter Anuj Rawat shared his experience of playing in IPL 2022 with the Faf du Plessis-led team.

Rawat was paired with the RCB skipper to open the innings in IPL 2022. The Delhi left-handed batter amassed 129 runs in eight innings at an average of 16.13.

Anuj Rawat scored his maiden IPL fifty against Mumbai Indians

Rawat’s only performance that mattered was 47-ball 66 against Mumbai Indians, apart from that, he was dismissed for a duck on three instances. He was dropped from the team after RCB’s eight league fixtures and thereafter Virat Kohli was promoted to open the innings.

I got to know my positive side as well as my negatives: Anuj Rawat

The 22-year-old Delhi player was elated to share the dressing room with the likes of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, du Plessis and Dinesh Karthik in IPL 2022. Rawat also said he learned about the areas that he needs to work on improving.

“Before Royal Challengers Bangalore, I was a part of Rajasthan Royals but I did not get chances there. But while playing for RCB, I got to know my positive side as well as my negatives. I know my negatives now, where I need to work on,” Rawat told news agency ANI.

“These are the legends of the game. I am from the same academy as Virat Kohli. I know his journey. I have seen him when he was playing in Under-19 and where he is now. And talking about Faf du Plessis, Maxi (Glenn Maxwell) and Dinesh Karthik as well, I have learnt a lot of things from them,” he added.

Rawat was bought by Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020 for INR 80 lakh but got just two matches to play across two seasons. The Delhi player was sold to RCB for INR 3.4 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction.

RCB made through to IPL 2022 playoffs by dint of Mumbai Indians beating Delhi Capitals in their final group stage fixture. RCB’s title hopes were crushed by the Royals in the Qualifier 2 clash.

‘I Wasn’t Able To Control My Emotions Because I Knew MS Dhoni Was Out’: PBKS Player On Using DRS To Dismiss MSD

Jitesh Sharma

Every bowler’s goal is to get MS Dhoni’s wicket at some point. Even though Dhoni is still playing in the IPL despite having retired from international cricket, every bowler aims for Dhoni’s wicket whenever a team faces the Chennai Super Kings.

While it was a great occasion for the South African bowler, 28-year-old Jitesh Sharma was equally pleased because it was him who grabbed the catch to remove Dhoni during the 11th encounter between Punjab Kings and CSK this year.

Jitesh Sharma Recalls The DRS Appeal That Took The Wicket Of MS Dhoni

Sharma’s usage of the Decision Review System, which Dhoni is an expert in, to secure the wicket made the occasion even more enjoyable.

While the umpire first ruled that Dhoni was out caught down the leg side by Rahul Chahar, Sharma was confident that a bat was involved and persuaded his skipper Mayank Agarwal to go upstairs.

After closer inspection, the ultra-edge discovered a spike as the ball passed the bat, and Dhoni was subsequently ruled out.

“It was just an instinct. I give my 100 percent whenever I walk out into the field. One can even say I put out my 110 percent. That’s the kind of person I am. I love to win and I want to be on the ground be it fielding, batting, planning, strategizing, be it in any capacity – I want to be on the field.

It was an instinctive appeal. I just had a feeling that there was a wooden sound and I should go for an appeal. I know that I was not able to control my emotions because I knew that MS Dhoni sir was out,” Sharma told Dr. Yash Kashikar on his show ‘Say Yash to Sports’

In the game, Dhoni’s departure was an important turning moment. CSK were in danger with 98/7 and PBKS defending 180, but there remained hope as long as Dhoni was batting. The CSK captain’s innings, however, was cut short at 23, and PBKS then shut down CSK to 126 to win the game by 54 runs.
