IND vs ENG: India ODI Squad vs England (Predicted)

India National Cricket Team, ICC T20 World Cup 2021

Team India is set to kick off the England tour at the end of this week when they play the rearranged fifth Test from last year’s tour, which will not only determine the results of the five-match series but will also show them a mirror for the roadmap ahead in the WTC 2021-23 cycle.

Just after the conclusion of the one-off Test, India will turn into the blue colours to play the white-ball leg comprising three T20 Internationals followed by as many ODI matches.

All six white-ball fixtures between England and India will be held at different venues in the United Kingdom. Both the teams have already announced their squads for the rescheduled fifth and final Test in Birmingham but they are yet to reveal their white-ball squads.

England will obviously see a change in the white-ball leadership after veteran skipper Eoin Morgan announced his retirement from international cricket on Tuesday (June 28).

India will also play under the leadership of Rohit Sharma for the first time in England. However, the Indian skipper isn’t certain to play the one-off Test after contracting the virus last week and is going under an isolation period. India will miss the services of injured players KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav with Ruturaj Gaikwad being the latest to add to the list.

India last played the ODI series against West Indies at home, where they clean swept the Kieron Pollard & co 3-0 after suffering a whitewash at the hands of South Africa in their last overseas ODI series earlier in January.

Let us look at India’s predicted 15-member ODI squad.

Rohit Sharma is likely to be fit by the time India starts the three-match ODI series on July 12. This would be the first overseas assignment for the 35-year-old in the 50-over format as India captain after he missed the ODI series against South Africa at the start of the year due to a hamstring injury.

Rohit has amassed 9238 runs in 230 ODI matches and 544 of those runs have been scored against England. Rohit will take a leaf from his magnificent 2019 World Cup experience, where he scored five centuries in the showpiece event in England and finished as the leading run-scorer with 648 runs at an average of 81.

IRE vs IND: ‘He Smiles When He Plays A Rogue Shot. If He Gets Away With It, He Laughs’- Leicestershire’s Roman Walker On Rishabh Pant

Roman Walker

Roman Walker of Leicestershire unexpectedly shot into cricket fans’ attention after outperforming all expectations in his county team’s exhibition game against India.

In the opening Indian inning, the 21-year-old grabbed four wickets, including those of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

As Team India gets ready for the rescheduled Test match against England commencing on July 1, he also had the opportunity to play with players like Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah, who played for the Leicestershire XI. Roman Walker joined Pant at the crease after entering the game for Leicestershire at number 9 and went on to make a solid 34, giving a good account of himself.

Rishabh Pant Was Great Fun To Bat With: Roman Walker

Leicestershire was able to surpass India’s first innings total thanks to a 70-run partnership between Rishabh Pant and Roman  Walker. Both batters contributed at a respectable rate, and the tandem had its fair share of aggressive batting and flare. Walker was eager to compliment Pant’s hitting and the teamwork he had displayed toward him and the other Leicestershire players.

“It was great, Pant has been great with our boys. He is great fun to bat with. He smiles whenever he plays a rogue shot,” said Roman Walker, speaking to Leicestershire’s media team.

“If he gets away with it, he laughs, if he doesn’t, he laughs.” After scoring 76, Pant attempted to take the long-handle towards Ravindra Jadeja but was unable to continue after top-edging a ball and was caught by Shreyas Iyer, a former colleague from the Delhi Capitals.

“It’s a great thing to learn from the other end. Just talking to him about options, how to play different bowlers, very valuable.”

They enjoyed lunch at the same table during the game’s breaks, according to reports, and several Leicestershire players praised Pant and the other Indians who were playing for their club. Pant, who was known for being a positive and optimistic person, was frequently captured on video making jokes and chit-chatting with the slips cordon.

Walker has never competed in a first-class match for Leicestershire, but his impressive displays with the bat and the ball are guaranteed to attract notice and, in time, lead to calls-ups to more senior levels of the game.

IRE vs IND: “That’s A Big Statement” – Aakash Chopra On Dinesh Karthik Keeping Wickets Ahead Of Ishan Kishan And Sanju Samson In 1st India Vs Ireland T20I

Aakash Chopra

Dinesh Karthik keeping wickets for Team India in the opening T20I match against Ireland instead of Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson, according to Aakash Chopra, is a significant managerial move.

Team India had the choice of using Karthik, Kishan, or Samson as the wicketkeeper while Rishabh Pant was abroad in England. Samson was not a member of the playing XI, but Karthik took the wicketkeeping gloves before Kishan, perhaps because Kishan is a little bit more nimble on the field.

Karthik being preferred as the keeper was the topic of a video posted by Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel:

“Dinesh Karthik is keeping, which means no Ishan Kishan, and Sanju Samson didn’t get an opportunity also. What does it mean, that he is now your primary keeping option if Pant is unavailable, that’s a big statement, that’s a big endorsement.”

The former Indian cricketer, though, was gushing with Kishan’s easygoing performance. Aakash Chopra elaborated:

“Ishan Kishan played a short knock but a knock which showed that he is cut above the rest. He has the ability to sight the ball early, the might to play the big shots and if you want to search for a disruptive opener, he is the guy, he is putting his hand up all the time.”

Kishan’s innings, which included three fours and two sixes, scored 26 runs off only 11 deliveries. Before being caught by Craig Young, the left-handed opener gave the Indian run chase an early boost.

Aakash Chopra praised Deepak Hooda for seizing his chance and leading India’s pursuit. He explained:

“Deepak Hooda got an opportunity to open. Hooda on fire, well done. He batted extremely well. He has a slightly different style of playing, has a wide stance, he is not that pleasing on the eye but it doesn’t matter.

Painting should be beautiful, batting should be one that scores runs, remained unbeaten in the end, which is a very big thing in my opinion.”

For the first time in T20 format, Deepak Hooda opened and struck an undefeated 47 runs off 29 balls, including 6 fours and 2 sixes. He has recently been in top form.

The well-known analyst also had kind words for Hardik Pandya. Aakash Chopra observed:

“Suryakumar Yadav came and went. Hardik Pandya’s short knock, once again he batted well, hit decently. He got dismissed but Hardik Pandya is looking as good as gold. If the bowling keeps on getting better, what a player. He has the swag when he hits a six.”

With the aid of six fours and two sixes, Hooda hit an undefeated 47 off 29 deliveries. Hardik scored 24 runs, including one four and three sixes, off just 12 balls.
