The Men in Blue announced their 15-man squad for the upcoming tournament on 8th September 2021. Virat Kohli will lead the Indian Cricket Team, while Rohit Sharma will assume the vice-captaincy duties. Prominent names such as KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya to name a few found their place in the squad.

Notably, Yuzvendra Chahal, who was India’s first-choice spinner till recently, didn’t find a place. Also, Shikhar Dhawan has been excluded from the 15-member squad. Kedar Jadhav lost his place in the Indian Cricket Team after his underwhelming performances in the ICC World Cup 2019. Later, he exhibited horrendous performances for CSK in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League. In 8 matches, he only managed 62 runs at an average of 20.66.
Sunrisers Hyderabad bought his services ahead of the 2021 edition of the tournament. There were no signs of improvements, however. He played 6 matches for the franchise and managed only 55 runs at an average of 13.75.
Looking at his performances over the last couple of years, Kedar Jadhav is unlikely to get another opportunity to play for India or in IPL. It shouldn’t come as a surprise if he announces his retirement from T20 internationals after the T20 World Cup 2021.
