It won’t get easier just because we beat India: Babar Azam

The Pakistan captain said that they won’t be complacent after the India win and will look at each match at a time.

“We, the openers, kept it simple and built a partnership and because the wicket was getting better so we just wanted to keep batting till the end, which we did. It won’t get easier just because we beat India. We will take the confidence, but we’re taking it one match at a time, and there’s a long way to go in the tournament,” Babar said in the post match presentation.

“We prepared well, and just kept the history out of our mind. We needed quality practice, and warm-up matches, and even our domestic tournament and those games gave us a lot of confidence,” he added.

Earlier in the game, Afridi got the better of the Indian openers as in the space of 10 balls, he sent both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul back to the pavilion.

India rode on skipper Virat Kohli (57), and Rishabh Pant’s (39) knocks to post a competitive score on the board.

Afridi got Kohli nicked behind the wicket in his final over to end his spell with 3/31.
