Delhi Capitals (DC) spinner Axar Patel was awarded player of the match in the match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Losing the toss batting first Mumbai Indians posted 129 runs on the board with Suryakumar Yadav being the leading run-getter with 33 runs under his belt. Meanwhile, from Delhi Capitals Avesh Khan and Axar Patel bagged 3 wickets each.
Chasing the target Delhi Capitals (DC) faced a batting collapse. However, Rishabh Pant provided some stability but lost his wickets to Jayant Yadav. After that Delhi kept losing wickets but Shreyas Iyer stood strong on one end.

Axar Patel who picked 3 wickets and scored 9 runs won the man of the match award, During the post-match presentation he told that he has been able to read batsmen easily.
Axar Patel elaborated:
“I am able to read the batter more easily and can plan better. If I can think about what the batter is doing and deny them the ideal ball, I can be more successful.”
Axar further talked about the wicket of Quinton De Kock and said:
” (On de Kock’s wicket) I thought he would go for the slog sweep or through the cover. That’s why I hung it out there for him to hit. I think there’s no need to experiment when some of the simple things are working better.”
Meanwhile, with the 4 wickets win over Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals have retained their 2nd spot in the points table and have 18 points in 12 games.
