Sunil Narine was adjudged as Player Of The Match for his all-round performance in the Eliminator of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 between Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Eoin Morgan-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday, October 11.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the toss and started the inning in fashion by smashing quick runs in the first 5 overs. However, after that game took a turnaround and Royal Challengers Bangalore lost wickets at regular intervals and in the end, they were able to score only 138 runs in 20 overs.

Chasing the comparatively low target Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer provided a very good start to the team. After the momentum shifted towards Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunil Narine came and smashed back-to-back sixers.

In the end, Eoin Morgan and Shakib Al Hasan led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) towards a 4 wicket victory and now the Eoin Morgan and co. will lock horns with Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) in Qualifier 2.

Sunil Narine looked exceptional in the match both with bat and ball, In the first innings, he picked the 4 biggest wickets of RCB, Narine dismissed Srikar Bharat, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell. Meanwhile, with the bat, he played a 26 runs cameo knock which helped Kolkata Knight Riders win the game.

During the post-match presentation, Sunil Narine told he enjoyed every wicket he picked. He stated:

“Any good performance in a match-winning game is always good. Today was my day and made the best use of it. All wickets I enjoy.”

Narine added that the hard work he is doing is finally paying back to him. Sunil Narine asserted:

I’m not that close to what I was before but I’m getting there. Hard work is paying off.”

The 33-year-old signed off by saying he prefers to remain cool and calm during the intense situation in the game. Narine added:

Always get some heart beats before the game. But cool and calm during the game. Prefer to have the ball in hand which you can control.”
