Virat Kohli, Royal Challengers Bangalore, IPL 2022,

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli became the first Indian batsman to score 10,000 runs in T20 cricket. He achieved the feat during RCB’s match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Going into the match, he was just 13 runs short of the milestone. He reached there in style with a six off MI pacer, Jasprit Bumrah. Kohli has played for India and RCB in the T20 format. Currently, he sits in fifth place on the highest run-scorers in the T20s.

Chris Gayle leads the list with 14,000+ runs. He was the only batsman to hit over 11,000 runs in the shortest format until Pollard recently achieved the feat. Unlike Gayle, Kohli only plays for two teams in the T20s. Despite that, he has amassed a massive amount of runs for the national side and the Bangalore franchise.

Kohli has five centuries for RCB, of which four came in the 2016 season alone. His highest score in T20Is for India is 94* that he put up against West Indies. Of late, he has started opening for both the teams, and the promotion to the top has worked for him.

The IPL 2021 season will be his last as the captain for RCB. He has decided to step down from the position after citing workload issues. Kohli had earlier announced his resignation as skipper from the T20Is as well. The upcoming T20 World Cup will be his first and only major ICC event in the T20 format.
