Tim Southee, who came into the eleven in place of the injured Andre Russell, dismissed Ashwin on the first ball of the 20th over during DC’s innings; Ashwin was caught in the deep and as he was walking by from the pitch, the Kiwi pacer had some words to say to him.
The off-spinner stormed towards Tim Southee for a discussion. He then had a go at the KKR skipper, Eoin Morgan. Thankfully, Dinesh Karthik, the KKR wicket-keeper and Ashwin’s Tamil Nadu and India teammate, stopped the off-spinner from having any more altercation and calmed him down.
It seems that Tim Southee was unhappy with Ashwin and Rishabh Pant stealing an extra single on the last ball of the 19th over after the throw had hit Pant on his arm. This irked the pacer to hurl down some words at Ashwin who isn’t one to back down.

DC put 127 on the board
After being put in to bat first by Eoin Morgan, DC got off to a solid start from Shikhar Dhawan and Steve Smith, who came in the eleven in place of the injured Prithvi Shaw. Dhawan (24 off 20) was the first to go on the last ball of the fourth over to Lockie Ferguson. DC ended powerplay at 39/1.
Sunil Narine castled Shreyas Iyer(1 off 5) after the powerplay illustrating the slowness of the pitch. Rishabh Pant tried to hit out his way but failed to connect most of his shots. Smith, on the other end, was fluent against the KKR spinners, stroking them for occasional boundaries on both sides of the wicket while smartly rotating the strike.
Before Smith (39 off 34) could up the ante, Ferguson returned to clean him up in the 13th over. Venkatesh Iyer then snapped up a couple of wickets of his own: Shimron Hetmyer (4 off 5) was caught in the deep, and Axar Patel at short mid-wicket for a 5-ball duck. In between those two wickets, Narine trapped Lalit Yadav lbw for a 3-ball duck.
Tim Southee dismissed R Ashwin (9 off 8) on the first ball of the last over, before Pant (39 off 36) got run out on the second ball. DC collapsed from 77/2 to 127/9.
