IPL 2022 Mega Auction: 3 Big Players RCB Might Release. Despite the hurdles and challenges the COVID-19 pandemic posed before the world, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ensured the IPL 2021 was completed without much hindrance.
The tournament had to be halted in May owing to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in India and subsequently had to be moved to the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings won the IPL 2021 after a thumping win against Kolkata Knight Riders by 27 runs in the final on October 15.
For many of the players, IPL 2021 could be the last time they might have played for the respective franchises.
As it is said ‘ The Show Must Go On’ and so like the Indian Premier League, one of the richest leagues in the sporting world, is set to once again expand the tournament with two new teams.
BCCI had floated an Invitation to Tender (ITT) inviting bids for owning two new teams to be inducted in IPL. Interested parties could buy the tender for a non-refundable ₹110 lakh plus taxes till October 5.
Hence IPL 2022 will see most of the players go under the auctions table as BCCI has planned a mega auction where each team will be able to retain a maximum of three players.
Royal Challengers Bangalore’s quest for the elusive IPL title continues as they were knocked out by Eoin Morgan’s Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator match.
The KKR match was Virat Kohli’s last match as the captain as he had earlier announced to step down from the role at the end of the season.
3 Big Players RCB Might Release
RCB could hope to build a stronger team in the next season and will have to wisely retain their core players ahead of IPL 2022 auction.
Let us look at the three players RCB might release from their squad before IPL 2022 auction.
1) AB de Villiers
RCB’s talisman AB de Villiers struggled to score in the UAE leg of IPL 2021 he could not strike the ball well the way he is used to doing.
AB de Villiers has been a lynchpin of the RCB batting line-up over the years and is the only other player apart from skipper Virat Kohli to play for the franchise for more than a decade.
Since his retirement from international cricket, he doesn’t play enough matches in a year and that makes him lack sharpness with the bat.
The team management might prefer to go with Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell who had a fabulous season with the team.
