Despite the fact that the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were defeated by the Punjab Kings (PBKS), Indian cricket star Sachin Tendulkar praised the performance of leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga.
The 24-year-old bowled four overs and took two wickets while conceding only 15 runs. He has also surpassed Yuzvendra Chahal as the current Purple Cap holder, and he is proving to be one of RCB’s greatest buys this season.
Conceding Just 15 Runs Where Total Is Above 200 Is Like Scoring A Quickfire Century: Sachin Tendulkar
Sachin Tendulkar discussed how RCB spinners Hasranga and Shahbaz Ahmed bowled smartly by taking advantage of the larger boundary in a video on his YouTube channel.
He said, “Very impressed with the way Hasaranga bowled. He always seems to pick up wickets in crucial phases in a game. RCB were smart in using both Hasaranga and Shahbaz.
“Hasaranga bowled into the leg-stump and to the long leg-side boundary, while Shahbaz bowled outside off to the longer boundary from his end.”
In an innings with more than 200 runs scored, Sachin Tendulkar believes that bowling at less than four runs per over is as good as scoring a quickfire century. Sachin added:
“Hasaranga is picking up more wickets because he is attacking the stumps. This is because a batter cannot afford to miss the ball and also playing across the line is risky. He gave away just 15 runs in a game where 209 were scored. To me, it is equivalent to a batter scoring a hundred off 40 balls.”
Hasaranga had a tremendous day with the ball, but he struggled with the bat after PBKS all-rounder Harpreet Brar grabbed a fantastic catch at deep mid-wicket.
Brar’s poise and presence of mind while taking the catch delighted Sachin Tendulkar, who believes it was one of the best catches he has seen this season.
