Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade stated that he will not be passing judgement over team England’s concerns on travelling to Australia for the Ashes in the middle of the pandemic.

The Ashes 2021-2022 is all set to go ahead as per schedule after England and Wales cricket board ( ECB) gave a green light for the trip to Australia. ECB bosses had a meeting on Friday, and they approved the tour “subject to several critical conditions being met”. Also, it has been told that players will be allowed to train outdoors during the 14-day quarantine period.

Matthew Wade spoke to reporters from hotel quarantine in Abu Dhabi ahead of the T20 World Cup 2021 and asserted:

In these times, it’s challenging for everyone.”

“You know, it’s easy to judge people and decisions that individuals are making but until you’ve been put in these environments, in these positions, and had to play under these conditions, I think it’s hard to pass judgement on anyone.”

Meanwhile, both Australia and England are placed in Group 1 of T20 World Cup 2021, and ahead of the Ashes Test series, they will go head-to-head on 30 October in Dubai.

Further, the wicketkeeper-batsman added that professional cricketers have to travel overseas and stay in bio-bubble, and some cricketers find it harder than others. Matthew Wade stated:

“Some guys struggle more with quarantine than others, there’s no hiding that.”

“That’s the challenge that professional cricketers have at the moment. You know, our sport is played overseas, we have to go overseas to play and to keep the game going, we understand that and [some] individuals find it harder than others.

Matthew Wade feels there is no difference between what England is going through ahead of travelling for the Ashes and other teams while playing overseas games. He stated:

There’s no difference between what England are going through now to what every other team goes through to go away and play.

“It’s not easy and I don’t pass judgement on any team or any individual for the challenges that they’re facing.

Matthew Wade also said that he is confident that Ashes will go ahead as per schedule, but he reckons there are some challenging parts of it. He asserted:

They’re trying to work it all out. And I’m confident the Ashes is going to go ahead. It’s never been a doubt in my mind, to be honest. But there are challenging parts of it.”
