Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi is a vastly experienced campaigner, and he has been handed the role of leading the national side in the T20 Worldcup 2021. Rashid Khan admitted that he doesn’t want to take the role of captaining the side in the big tournament and the Afghanistan cricket board had no other way than appointing Nabi as the skipper.
Mohammad Nabi has already captained the side from 2013 to 2015, and he does know the needs of the board when it comes to captaining the side. His T20 experience around the globe will be immensely helpful, and he is one of the key contributors in the side as a batsman and a spinner. He played few games for the Sunrisers Hyderabad side in the UAE phase of IPL 2021.
Mohammad Nabi Feels Excited To Play The Captaincy Role
Mohammad Nabi mentioned that captaining Afghanistan is not an easy job by any means and admitted he is ready to give his 100 percent effort for the side. He was confident with the team preparations and revealed the visa problems that had been going on in arriving at UAE.
“Yeah, it’s (captaincy) a tough job at the end, I will try my best to lead the team in the World Cup and perform well in the tournament. (I am) really excited to play as a captain in this event,”
“The team is brilliant and they are preparing from the last one and half month, and there was little-bit (of) struggle on visas, so didn’t arrive in UAE early, they were practising in Qatar,” Nabi told in a conference call ahead of the T20 Worldcup.
Mohammad Nabi Feels Qatar And UAE Weather Are All Same
Mohammad Nabi mentioned that the players had got adjusted to the Qatar conditions, which is similar to UAE and added that their moto will be to try hard and win the tournament.
“They (the players) adjust with the weather, Qatar and UAE weather are all (almost) the same. We will try our best to perform well in the tournament…and go until the end,” He added.
Afghanistan has progressed to the super 12 stages automatically, and they will not be among the qualifiers this time around.
