Pakistan Cricket Unveils The Jersey For T20 World Cup, Mentions India 2021 Instead Of UAE 2021

Pakistan Cricket Unveils The Jersey For T20 World Cup, Mentions India 2021 Instead Of UAE 2021

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Friday evening, unveiled their jersey for the upcoming T20 World Cup, to be held in Oman and the UAE from October 17.

A traditional green jersey was revealed in an exciting video. However, the thing to note was that the jersey mentioned ‘India 2021’. Now, this comes in a talking point, as a few days ago, a leaked picture on social media suggested that the Pakistan team jersey had written ‘UAE 2021’, although that was not the official unveiling by the PCB.

The T20 World Cup was initially slotted to be played in India. However, due to the Covid-19 situation in the country, which also halted and forced the IPL 2021 to the UAE, the T20 World Cup was also shifted to UAE and Oman.

But, since the BCCI is still the official host of the tournament, all team jerseys should have ‘ICC Men’s T20 World Cup India 2021’ written on them, according to ICC rules.

Pakistan and India will meet in the T20 World Cup, on October 24 in Dubai.

The 2022 edition of Asia Cup will be in the T20 format, to be hosted by Sri Lanka. The decisions were taken by an ACC meeting which was held in Dubai on Thursday.

The ACC meeting, headed by Jay Shah, who is also the BCCI secretary, “has recognised that it is the turn of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to host the event and the Pakistan board, as it has been maintaining in the recent times, has declared that it will not host the event at a neutral venue, but in Pakistan only”. The decision, it is understood, is a unanimous one.

Sources from both the BCCI and PCB have confirmed this news to Cricbuzz. The exact schedule of the events will be finalised later. The PCB was represented by its new chairman, Ramiz Raja.
