T20 World Cup 2021: India vs Pakistan Match Cannot Be Cancelled, Says BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla

India vs Pakistan

The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Vice-President, Rajiv Shukla, has asserted that the T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan cannot be cancelled.

Shukla stated that under the ICC’s International Commitments, a refusal to play against another team will not be tolerated. Several demands were made by politicians, Union Minister, Giriraj Singh, in particular, asking for reconsideration of the high-voltage clash.

Giriraj pointed out that the relationship crisis between the two countries might hinder the match in the World Cup. However, responding to the calls, Rajiv Shukla has stated that there won’t be any cancellation as it isn’t permitted under the ICC rules.

We strongly condemn the killings(J&K). Strict action should be taken against terror organisations. As far as the match (T20 WC IND vs PAK) is concerned, under ICC’s international commitments you can’t refuse to play against anyone. You’ve to play in ICC tournaments,” Shukla said.

India is scheduled to play against Pakistan on October 24 in Dubai. The match kicks off the Super-12 stage for both teams, and quite a lot of buzz has been created around it. The animosity between the two countries on a political basis could bring in a certain risk factor to the game, people on social media mentioned.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and co. are playing against England in the first of the two warmup matches tonight. They will meet Australia on Wednesday in the second warmup match.
