T20 World Cup 2021: Watch – Glenn Maxwell Cleans Up Temba Bavuma With An Off-Break

Glenn Maxwell gave Australia their first wicket in their Super 12 opening match, dismissing the South Africa captain, Temba Bavuma, in their encounter on Saturday afternoon in Abu Dhabi.

Glenn Maxwell was given the second over by skipper Aaron Finch – perhaps to target the match-up against left-hander Quinton de Kock with the new ball. But the off-spinner got the better of the Protea captain.

The Australian bowled a full-length off-break, spinning back into Bavuma, whose feet remained planted as he played down the wrong line, pushing at the delivery. The ball snuck through the big gap between his bat and pad and crashed into the stumps.

Australia is on top with a flurry of wickets in the powerplay

Aaron Finch had won the toss and elected to bowl first. Mitchell Starc was off his radar in the first over, leaking 11 runs to Temba Bavuma. But then it was all Australia from thereon. Glenn Maxwell castled the South African skipper in the second over.

Josh Hazlewood, continued his good form from the IPL, nicking Rassie van der Dussen through to wicketkeeper Matthew Wade. The lanky pacer struck again – this time with the big scalp of Quinton de Kock. South Africa ended their powerplay at the score of 29/3.
