Former South Africa cricketer Jonty Rhodes has stated that everyone needs to be quiet and let Indian skipper Virat Kohli do the things his way.

Virat Kohli-led India National Cricket Team is placed in the Group 2 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 along with Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia. The Men In Blue will commence their Super12s journey with a battle against arch-rivals Pakistan on 24 October at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Also, Virat Kohli will step down from the captaincy of the Indian team in T20 Internationals format after the T20 World Cup 2021 and fans are expecting Kohli to end his T20I captaincy on a good note by leading India towards a title victory.

In an interview with TimesofIndia.com, Jonty Rhodes was asked about Kohli’s last run as a T20I captain and high expectations from him both as a leader and a batsman, to which the Former Proteas cricketer replied that Kohli is a man and not a machine. Jonty Rhodes elaborated:

We all want Virat Kohli to score runs but he is a man, not a machine. He wears his heart on his sleeve. We’ve seen how he deals with the opposition when he’s batting on the field. He’s always in their face. He is that kind of player”

The former South Africa cricketer reckons that Kohli is a type of leader who loves to lead his team from the front, and he wants to score a lot of runs for the team. The 52-year-old said:

” I think the expectation from him – (we keep saying) – oh we want Virat to score runs, you better believe he wants to score runs. Because he’s a captain who loves to lead from the front. “

Rhodes further added that he doesn’t have any advice for the Indian skipper, and he said he would love to see Kohli do well in the World Cup. Jonty stated:

So, I don’t have any advice for him. We all need to be quiet and let Virat do what he does. We’d love to see Virat Kohli perform.”
