Australia’s white-ball skipper Aaron Finch is confident of going into the upcoming T20 World Cup in UAE after coming out on a good note with the head coach.

Langer was under the hammer for the last few months for his coaching style and relations with the team players. The head coach had a meeting with both the Australian captains Tim Paine and Aaron Finch along with vice-captain Pat Cummins to check on the progress of the national team.

Cricket Australia chairman Earl Eddings and CEO Nick Hockley were also present in that emergency meeting. In fact, Hockley backed Langer to take the team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 and The Ashes at home despite the chaos that was happening in the dressing room and the back to back T20I series loss to West Indies and Bangladesh.

Langer, who took the charge of the team after the infamous 2018 ball-tampering scandal in Cape Town, said he is confident to become a better coach.

“We all got a lot off our chests. I think we are all in a better place now. The situation at the moment is very tough, but I am confident that I will become a better coach from it,” Langer told The Western Australian.

Finch was in similar lines with his head coach as the Australian captain said the discussions helped to open the bond and the team is positive to head towards the mega event.

“Absolutely! That was really an official process to be able to really give strong feedback and say the action has been taken on the back of that it’s really been positive,” Finch said in a virtual media press conference.

“I think just to be able to programme to get the feeling there and discuss it in a really opening bond, it was really positive. So we are staying ahead and the planning and preparations side of it is behind has been impressive over the last few weeks. We are confident going into this tournament,” he added.

Australia will play the opening match of the Super 12 stage against South Africa on October 23 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
